I have a question to ask; please what is the place of CONSECRATION in the new covenant and how can a New creation stay consecrated for effective ministerial service. Am most humbled, God bless you”.
Bible Teacher’s response :
* Consecration is an OLD TESTAMENT practice which refers to SACRIFICE. Items for consecration include:
Altar, Plates, cups, Animals, and the Sons of Aaron (Priests).
You will see that in :
1. Exodus 29 : 22, 26, 33
2. Lev 8:22,31
3. Numbers 6 : 7 and so on.
There is no mention of the word Consecration in the New Testament, except for Hebrews 10 : 20
By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh;
What this means is that Christ body has been offered as a consecrated sacrifice ONCE AND FOR ALL, and that by it, we have gained permanent access into God’s presence. The consecration of Animals and even Priests in the Old testament was to give them a temporary holiness to enter the Holy of Holies.
But this sanctification has been achieved by the sacrifice of Christ’s body, and hence the torn veil.
Heb 10:10, 12, 14,
“By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;
For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.”
Should a Minister strive to live holily and soberly in the work of ministry, yes and compulsory too.
But this holiness (or sanctification ) doesn’t come through “willfully trying”, No. It comes through receiving more revelation of Truth. ( Jn 15:3,Jn 17:17,).
The holiness of the New Testament minister is only drawn from the Holiness of Christ who has been perfected forever, and who now indwells the Believer (Col 1:26-28), and has become our sanctification. 1 Cor 1:30.
