John 14:19-20.
“Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also. At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you”.
Mystery union.What a phrase.
Jesus said that he is in the Father; we are in him, and he in us.
Trying to wrap this around your mind could make your head spin.
That’s why it’s called a mystery. (Col 1:27).
What is a mystery?
A mystery is ‘something that was hitherto hidden or obscure, but now made plain or revealed ‘.
The Union of the Godhead(Trinity), is a mystery. So also was the union of God (Christ) and the Believer.
But the Bible says that these things have been revealed unto us by God via His Spirit, the HolyGhost.(1 Cor 2:10).
The Doctrine of a person being in another is used several times in the Bible e.g God – in – Christ
(Cor 5:19); Christ -in – God (Jn 14:20); Men being in Christ ( 2 Cor 5:17) and so on.
When the Bible recorded that Satan entered into Judas, it doesn’t mean that Lucifer, the fallen angel physically and bodily entered into Judas. No.
It means Judas yielded and consented to Satan, and both became one-in-mind, and consecrated to the same purpose.
It’s the same expression when it relates to Men-in-God.
There are multiple places where the phrase “in Him” appeared in the New Testament.
Each instance refers to the Believer being in complete union with Christ.
It’s called the ‘Doctrine-of-Interpenetration’ and is best captured by Apostle Paul’s words in
1 Cor 6:17:
*But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.
In the next few episodes, we shall be looking at this mystery union in detail; what it affords the Believer, and the implications of it.
Hebrews 2: 9-10
“But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man. For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings”.
The mystery of the union between a Believer and the Lord is activated by SEEING JESUS.(spiritual perception, esteem, trust,
embrace and consecration unto him).
The benefits of this great union is appropriated as you gain more revelation of Christ. Jesus himself categorized greatness of persons in his kingdom by the measure of revelation of him they received.
Matt 11: 11.
“Verily I say unto you, Among them that are born of women there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist: notwithstanding he that is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he”
By what measure you may ask?
First of all, by what measure is John-de-baptist greater than Moses who parted the Red Sea? Or Elijah who called down fire from heaven? Or Elisha who raised one from the dead?
John? John did no miracles.
Yea, his superiority over those stems from the measure of revelation of Christ he brought. Whereas Moses and the Patriarchs saw Jesus revealed in types and shadows, John identified Christ in the flesh.
Whereas the Prophets cried: ” Thus says the Lord….”; John boldly pointed to the Messiah saying:” Behold the Lamb of God…”.
And you as a Believer, why are you greater than John?
“Because in you is fulfilled the whole plan of redemption, which is:
“Christ-in-you-the-hope-of-glory”!!!
(Col 1:27).
You and Jesus are NOW one, and he is not ashamed to have you so.
CONCLUSION
Hebrews 2: 11.
“For both he that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified are all of one: for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren.”
